The Latin Brothers (yes, in English) is a salsa band created by Colombian record company Discos Fuentes with the purpose of taking advantage of the trombone-based salsa sound heavily popularized by Venezuelan band La Dimensión Latina (“The Latin Dimension”) in the mid seventies. It’s basically Fruko Y Sus Tesos ( ) without trumpets (just trombones) plus some guest vocalists. “Las Caleñas Son Como las Flores” (“Caleñas -women from Cali- Are Like Flowers”), released as a single in late 1975, is the biggest hit ever for lead singer Edulfamid Molina “Piper Pimienta” Díaz (1939-1998), in which he coined his famous catch-phrase “Cali es Cali. Lo demás es loma” (“Cali is Cali. The rest is hills”).

Captured from an original copy of “Bailables Del Año Volumen 5”, a compilation LP released in 1976 by Discos Fuentes.
