Without the cleaver peak-a-boo system, crossfader, two turntable cutting and looping of beats that DJ Grandmaster Flash invented, there would be no hip-hop. Likewise, without the lyrics of Cool Herc and Melle Mel and the rest of Sugarhill Gang, there would be no hip-hop.
