Randy Coven was a virtuoso bass player born in the United States in 1960. Aside from a solo career, he also lent his talents to the likes of Leslie West’s Mountain and Yngwie Malmsteen. “Funk Me Tender” is his debut solo album released in 1986, featuring special guests Steve Vai on the album’s title track and Al Pitrelli (known as Al Petrelli at the time) on “Uptown”.

Randy Coven died in his sleep in 2014. May he rest in peace. Here you can hear some selections from his debut LP as the leader of the Randy Coven Band.
