The first ten seconds of the tune created and performed by producer Quincy Jones for the long-running TV cop show “Ironside” are triply famous because, aside from serving as the very first impression on the TV show, they were also used as the “iron fist” theme on the 1972 film “Five Fingers Of Death” a.k.a. “King Boxer” starring pre-Bruce Lee martial arts star Lo Lieh. This is considered the movie that started the North American kung fu film craze of the 70s (the movie clip in this video is taken from it).

And many years later, director Quentin Tarantino paid homage to this film using the same snippet to signal fights in “Kill Bill”. So here’s where cop shows and martial arts films meet. And of course you can hear the tune in its entirety here, taken from an original Japanese pressing of the “Ironside” single by Quincy Jones, released in 1971.
