Released in 1986 as the lead single to the album “Graceland”, it only reached #44 in that year. With the popularity of the album growing, the single was re-released shortly after its original release. It reached a new peak, where it hit #23 on the Hot 100 for two weeks, starting on May 23rd of 1987. Despite it only hitting the middle of the top 40, it became one of the biggest hits of the 1980’s. “Graceland” became one of the best selling albums of 1987 (and the decade), where it was placed at #2 for the year by Billboard.
