Here you can hear both the original and the most famous version of “Respect”, a soul/R&B tune written and recorded by singer Otis Redding in 1965, and covered two years later by Aretha Franklin, becoming her signature tune. Her version is considered one of the best R&B songs of its era.

Otis Redding recorded the song for his third album “Otis Blue/Otis Redding Sings Soul”. Sundazed Music reissued this album in 2001, and the copy in this video is an unknown year reissue of that reissue.

Aretha Franklin released her version as the opening track of her tenth album “I Never Loved A Man The Way I Love You”. The copy being played here is an European reissue from 2013 by Rhino Vinyl.
