In 1988, Pink Floyd released their first post-Waters live album, entitled “Delicate Sound Of Thunder”, documenting the “A Momentary Lapse of Reason” tour. It was recorded over five nights at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island NY between August 19 and 23, 1988. In 2019, the album was remixed and expanded for inclusion in the box set “The Later Years 1987-2019”, and this version received a standalone release in 2020.

Here you can hear both the original 1988 mix and the 2019 remix using “Learning To Fly” as test subject. Although the original mix is taken from an original Colombian pressing from 1989 (which presumably doesn’t sound as good as an original US or UK pressing), the point of this video isn’t comparing pressings but the VERY DIFFERENT mixes. The differences can be clearly heard in spite of the provenance of the pressings. Plus, the Colombian pressing was cut by one of the best engineers at the time (for Colombian standards, at least), so I’d dare to say that the difference with a “First World” pressing isn’t that big in this case. Actually, I think this record sounds very good for a Colombian product.
