Miklós Spányi was born in Budapest in 1962. He
studied at the Bartok Bela Specialized Secondary
School of Music, and at the Liszt Ferenc Academy
of Music in Budapest as a pupil of Ferenc Gergely
(organ) and János Sebestyén (harpsichord). Spanyi
is the first to have taken his diploma at the
Budapest Academy of Music in the harpsichord. He
has also attended master classes of Nicholas
McGegan andJos van Immerseel. In 1983 Mikl6si
Spanyi reached the finals in the international
harpsichord competition in Paris and was awarded _
second place for his continuo performance. In 1984
he took first prize at the international harpsichord
competition in Nantes. He gives regular concerts
both in Hungary and abroad as a solo harpischord
and organ player, and as a member of Capella
Savaria. On Hungaroton recordings he has featured
as a member of this ensemble, with the Liszt
Ferenc Chamber Orchestra, and in the album
“Hommage a Scarlatti” (SLPX 12674-75).
