Protégées of Rick James, this group was named after his hit song “Mary Jane” from 1978. He also wrote and produced the single. It became the girls biggest hit, becoming their first top 40 on the charts. It reached a peak of #7 for three weeks, starting on June 8th of 1985. The song gained national attention, due to the newly-founded Parents Music Resource Center’s “Filthy Fifteen” list, which “In My House” was placed on it.
