In 1992 I picked up Mario Kart for the Super Nintendo. In 1998 the N64 would change everything on the Mario Kart platform. Double Dash was a whole new beast on the GameCube, and it was as far as I chose to go. Mario Kart 64 was the perfect balance of a real Mario Kart game with all of the elements that you could enjoy, without the ‘over-the-top zaniness’ of Double Dash. Mario Kart 64 will always stand out as the greatest Mario Kart game released.
