Written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin, this single had been released before by Little Eva in 1962 and Grand Funk Railroad in 1974. They both hit #1 on the Hot 100, becoming the second song to hit #1 twice by a different artist (the first was also written by King and Goffin). In 1988, fourteen years after Grand Funk Railroad took their’s to the top, Kylie Minogue recorded and released it as her second single in the U.S. It did just as good as the other two recordings, becoming a top 3 hit, where it peaked at #3 for two weeks, starting on November 12th of that same year.
