Having been released at the peak of the spy movie craze triggered by the appearance of James Bond on the big screen in 1962, it wasn’t surprising that the 1965 movie “Help!”, starring The Beatles, followed that trend in one way or another. But contrary to what many people think, the only relationship between Monty Norman’s James Bond theme and the tune composed and recorded by Ken Thorne for the “Help!” film score is its mood and the usage of a motif played on the low register of an electric guitar in the style of Vic Flick, the player who recorded the famous melody associated to agent 007. Aside from that, both themes are totally unrelated.
