Joe Turner – Shake, Rattle & Roll (Original Atlantic LP Compilation)

“Big” Joe Turner is thought of as one of, if not, the founding father of early Rock & Roll. This particular song made its debut in 1954 and it predates some of Sun record’s most famed Rock & Roll artist as Sun records was collectively recruiting new talent onto the label during that year. In fact, two years later Elvis Presley released a song which was almost an exact copy of Joe Turner’s version, and this was not the only song Elvis copied from. This particular song charted #1 that year on R&B charts in the U.S.. The sound was quite new to the radio at that time and deejays did not know how to classify it, so they said it contains remnants of blues, big band jazz, and a swinging rhythm which shortly became to be known as Rock & Roll.

This particular digital conversion has been extracted from an early black label Atlantic records Rock & Roll compilation LP which was lightly scuffed quite well due to age and wear of the record. This recording has been cleaned up with Izotope RX5 and Adobe Audition to the best of my abilities, while trying to preserve as much of the original sound as possible. Enjoy
