It’s a very subjective statement, but I’m sure many agree that this is one of the most (if not THE most) beautiful concertos ever written for the nylon string acoustic guitar. Penned by Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo in 1939, this is his best-known work, particularly thanks to its second movement (Adagio), which has been performed in different styles by many artists, from Deep Purple to Miles Davis to Chick Corea to Isao Tomita.

This is a 1968 recording by the San Antonio (Texas) Symphony Orchestra conducted by Victor Alessandro, with Spanish player Ángel Romero on guitar. Reissued in 1982 as part of an encyclopedia called “Los Grandes Compositores” (“The Great Composers”) by Spanish publishing house Salvat.
