This is one of flute player Ian Anderson’s signature performances. Written by J.S. Bach as the fifth movement (Bourrée) of his Suite In E Minor For Lute BWV 996, and adapted by Anderson for the flute in the key of D minor. From there, he added his own stuff and released his version as part of Jethro Tull’s sophomore album “Stand Up” from 1969. Aside from Ian Anderson’s virtuosity on the flute, this piece also features a cool electric bass solo by Glenn Cornick.

Taken from the mostly compilatory album “Living In The Past” by Jethro Tull from 1972. Original UK pressing.
