5 Years ago this was one of the first songs that we uploaded to our channel, but now I’ve recorded it again on the hardware it deserves. This is Blaise Bailey Finnegan III from the Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada album released in 1999.

For those of you who are unaware of this recording, the man being interviewed is Blaise Bailey Finnegan the 3rd and the rant that you are hearing was a recording of him that was captured in Providence Rhode Island. For years there has been a lot of speculation going around that the same man ranting in this song is Blaze Bayley from Iron Maiden due to a poem he reads that is a striking resemblance to lyrics from their song, Virus. Over time this was addressed to the members of Iron Maiden and it’s apparently been denied of all knowledge of who he is. There is not much else that I have learned over time than that information about this song. Back when I got the CD of this album in 2000, I had done some brief research then, but eventually left it alone.

There is a real sense of urgency and beauty in this album that I think leaves the listeners to an open-ended area of uncertainty in their minds. You decide for yourselves what meaning you find here and however profound that may be, it still stems from a reality that has increasingly become more terrifying year after year. Either way you look at it, Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada still remains to be one of the greatest Godspeed EP’s of all time to be released.

Godspeed falls under the post-rock/ambient rock, experimental drone genre with several varying manifestations of rock. I still hold firm that none of their other work can come close to this album. Enjoy!
