In 1975, Air France requested conductor, arranger and composer Franck Pourcel to write an anthem for the Concorde supersonic aircraft since both Pourcel and Air France, along with Brigitte Bardot, were considered the three most exported French products at the time.

Pourcel joined forces with producer Claude-Michel Schönberg to create two pieces dedicated to the Concorde: The eponymous tune that kicks off the LP, and another one named after the maximum theoretical altitude that a Concorde airliner could reach. Pourcel was mistakenly told (probably due to a conversion error) that such altitude was 31.000 feet, and that’s the name originally given to the track. Shortly after the album’s release, he was informed of the mistake and quickly replaced the track title with “60.000 Feet”, which is the correct altitude. This copy of the LP is an original French pressing with the track title corrected.
