Eddie Money was recording this song and needed a singer for the “Be My Baby” part of the track. He initially wanted Ronnie Spector for it since “Be My Baby” was a #2 for her and the Ronettes back in 1963. Spector has since been retired and asked Martha Davis of the Motels to record it instead. Davis said to ask Spector to record it, so Money finally asked Spector to do it, which she agreed. It payed off, becoming Money’s biggest hit on the Hot 100 and a comeback for Ronnie Spector. It reached #4 for a single week on November 15th of 1986.
