“Dancing In The Street” is a song originally released in 1964 by Martha And The Vandellas which became a signature song for both the artist and Motown, the record label that released it. It has been recorded by many artists, and one of those versions is the one recorded by David Bowie and Mick Jagger in 1985 to raise money for the Live Aid famine relief cause. Here you can hear the 12″ “extended dance mix” by Steve Thompson and Michael Barbiero.

In Colombia, this 12″ single was released as a picture disc and, based on Discogs, it seems that it’s the only country in which it was released in that format. In all honesty, when I bought this record in 1985 I didn’t do it because of the music but because I had never seen a picture disc before, and of course it was a huge novelty for me. But it’s a cool song anyway and I think this pressing sounds great for a picture disc.
