The slide trombone is my favorite wind instrument, and Christian Lindberg (Danderyd, Sweden, 1958) is my favorite trombone soloist. I became a huge fan since the first time I saw and heard him in 1995, performing a single-movement version of the amazing “Motorbike Concerto” for trombone and orchestra by Swedish composer Jan Sandström on Spanish TV. “The Virtuoso Trombone” is Lindberg’s first full-length solo album, released in 1984, and here you can hear from that LP his version of the arrangement for trombone by American trombonist Arthur Pryor of the Scottish folk song “Blue Bells Of Scotland”. Accompanied by Swedish pianist Roland Pöntinen.
