Something different for this video!
AudioPhil and MyVinylObsessive have similar tastes in music, and we noticed subtle differences in audio presentation of videos we had both made of Stairway To Heaven from Led Zeppelin IV – so we thought it would be fun to do a collab to compare the different versions.

So, here we have AudioPhil’s 1981 German pressing and MrVinylObsessive’s 2014 remaster.

We both own the same superb Goldring G1042 cartridge, though of course the rest of the recording chain is different – though it doesn’t make the recordings sound as different as you might expect. We’re comparing pressing here, not equipment setups!

AudioPhil uses a Technics 1200G, a Funk Firm Achromat, Goldring G1042 and Devialet 440 Pro amplifiers – the phono stage is integrated in the Devialet.

MrVinylObsessive uses a Rega P3 & Neo power supply, GrooveTracer sub platter, Goldring G1042 and iFi Zen phono stage.
