Antonio Carlos Jobim protegé Ana Caram made her recording debut in the US with this 1989 “Rio After Dark” album, loaded with bossa nova and folk flavors, and recorded by Chesky Records with their usual minimalist techniques. Each track was recorded “live” in the studio, without overdubbing or artificial enhancement.
