Pianist and harpsichordist Alexei Lubimov was
born in 1944 in Moscow. He received musical training
at the Central School of Music (A. Artobolevskaya’s
class) and at the Moscow Conservatoire (class of
Professor H . Neuhaus and L. Naumov). In 1965 he
won the first prize at the I nternational Competition
of Pianists in Rio de Janeiro and in 1968 he became
laureate of the international competition in Montreal.
His repertoire is made up of early music, works
by J: S. Bach, Vienna masters, Brahms and also 20th
century music ran~ing from Scriabin and Debussy
to Schoenberg and Webern. A . Lubimov often performs
early music on original keyboard instruments.
An example of this is the present recording of French
harpsichordists pieces, which was made at the Moscow
Conservatoire, performed on a “Zuckermann”
one-manual harpsichord, a replica of an A . Ruckers
original (1645) .

The “Facsimile” series ‘ contains recordings оf musical works written in the 16th – early 19th centuries in their original sound. It сопсеrns both the choice of instruments (old опеs ог their replicas), editing and performing devices of the epoch.
