This kind of video is a change of pace from my regular uploads, but it’s very important that the vinyl community know about the fraudulent, and grossly unprofessional behavior from Maryland’s very own Friends Records. Aside from scams, this company also contacted and harassed me multiple times. Friends Records has crossed legal boundaries in more ways than one. I’ve edited the video to save as much time as possible while still leaving in multiple details that cover the overall problem.

They deceptively listed an album as “Mint Condition: Only Opened To Verify Color” but was badly scratched and unplayable in certain parts of the LP. After much work on my end, I finally received a refund, but what happened months down the road after that, painted a picture of exactly who these people are and the warning that I’m giving should be taken seriously.

An equally disturbing fact, is that the company has re-listed the exact same album again, under the same Mint Condition grading.
I’ve reported this to Discogs, and a couple of other organizations, but Discogs is still letting them keep it in their listing regardless of specific details and photos that I provided them.

We can all agree that the hobby of collecting and spinning vinyl records is supposed to be an enjoyable and personal experience for everyone. We should especially consider this for newcomers to the hobby that are seeking a place of understanding and acceptance. Not everyone will visit record stores. There are vast numbers of online marketplaces that have vinyl records available, and it’s important that we maintain a certain level of professionalism and respect as much as possible to protect the image of this hobby and the people involved.

Please help me to keep these ideals going by either sharing this video or spreading the word to others in the vinyl community, deterring them from purchasing from Friends Records.
